Filipe Masetti
Cowboy, Filmmaker & Adventurer
A young man’s dream to ride across the Americas on horseback, became an inspiration and voice for many communities along his 27,000km journey. Luminox caught up with the now award-winning filmmaker and best-selling author Filipe Masetti, to discover his drive and how his thirst for adventure has now helped so many others. What started as a simple desire for adventure, turned into much more.

Filipe’s incredible journey began with a dream to follow in the footsteps of legendary Long Riders. Born in Brazil and raised in Canada, he combined his love for the wilderness, animals, people and storytelling to embark on an adventure like no other. Over eight years, Filipe rode 27,000 kilometers across 12 countries, from Alaska to Argentina. This became the award-winning documentary, The Long Rider. More than just a test of endurance, his journey became a mission to inspire and give back.
During his long rides, Filipe connected with countless communities, raising awareness for them and making a tangible impact. One of the causes closest to his heart is the Barretos Children’s Cancer Hospital in Brazil. Recognizing the importance of early cancer detection, Filipe used his eventual platform along this journey, to educate and fundraise for life-saving initiatives. He spoke with families, visited schools, and spread a message of hope—emphasizing that small actions can lead to life-changing results. One unforgettable moment came when a mother, after hearing Filipe speak about the hospital and ways to detect eye cancer, discovered that her child had retinoblastoma. Thanks to Filipe’s advocacy, she sought medical attention in time to save her son’s vision and life. This story is just one of many that highlight the power of his quest and passion for connecting with people.

Filipe’s journey was not without its hardships. From battling extreme weather in the Yukon to facing the rugged terrain of Patagonia, he encountered relentless challenges. He faced grizzly bears in Alaska, cartels in Central America, and the mental strain of traveling alone for thousands of miles. Yet, with each obstacle, Filipe pushed forward, proving that true resilience comes from purpose and perseverance. Through these trials, Filipe demonstrated what it truly means to be an Everyday Hero—someone who doesn’t just endure hardship but uses it as fuel to uplift others.
Beyond his personal achievements, Filipe continues to inspire others to follow their own paths of adventure and purpose. Whether through his best selling books, award-winning documentaries, or motivational talks, he encourages people to push past fear and take bold steps toward their dreams.
“My advice is simple: start where you are, with what you have. You don’t need to have all the answers or wait for the perfect moment. If you have a passion, a cause, or something that speaks to you, act on it. Small actions, when done with purpose, can create ripple effects that lead to something much bigger.“
