BEAR GRYLLS ECO 3720 ’NO PLANET B’

To celebrate earth month, Luminox is proud to introduce the Bear Grylls Eco 3720 ‘No Planet B’ wristwatch. This remarkable timepiece is a landmark in sustainable watchmaking. By utilizing recycled ocean material to make the strap, case and bezel we remove approximately three 500ml plastic bottles from the ocean per watch. With an estimated 11 million metric tons of plastic entering the ocean every year, each step to reduce this waste helps to make a positive impact.

Bear Grylls Partnership

Since 2020 Luminox has been proud to partner with Bear Grylls, the world’s most recognized survivalist. With the Bear Grylls ECO 3720 series the collaboration takes a newfound focus on sustainability and creates the most eco-friendly timepiece in the Luminox catalog.

The Standard for Sustainability

The 42mm case of the ECO 3720 is formed from shredded ocean plastic. This same plastic is also upcycled into pellets which are used to produce spun yarn, the key material in the watch’s strap. ‘I USED TO BE A BOTTLE’ is printed on the strap’s interior to echo the unique timepiece’s inspiring story.

Process

Discover the remarkable technology behind the Bear Grylls ECO 3720. The #tide material starts out as plastic waste, which is then broken down into its base particles. These are treated, cleaned, and then shredded so that they can be repurposed, just like the original material it once was.

#tide

#tide ocean materials are made from 100% ocean-bound plastic, developed in partnership with Swiss scientists. The plastic is sourced from the surrounding waters of five islands in the Andaman Sea off the coast of Thailand. Here, local fishermen are being trained and paid to gather and sort plastic waste that is ultimately used to craft essential components of select wristwatches.
